If you want to innovate as a business and especially don’t want to lag behind, you can’t ignore the latest technology. But so much is happening in the field of technology. Which technology do you really need to do something with in 2023?
1. AI (Artificial Intelligence)
It’s one of the most obvious. After all, you really can’t ignore it. AI is so hot at the moment. The possibilities of AI are gigantic. You could use it for almost every element of your business. The applications are almost unlimited. For instance, project management, virtual assistance, chatbots for communicating with your customers. Even for something like onboarding of new employees, you could deploy AI (see point 3).
2. Datafication
Datafication means that everything is measurable and everything can be analyzed. All data can be put to use. It’s a technology that includes certain tools. But it’s also a mindset. In the world of football, a lot is done with this. The level of football nowadays is much higher than it used to be. Not because we’re better at running, but because we measure everything and use that data to optimize the game. For example, we keep statistics for goalkeepers on which side they more often jump up, so the player can take it into account.
3. Onboarding software
Onboarding happens on several levels. For example, you have onboarding on platforms in applications. The user is told the story of the application, and the solution you offer. With new staff, there is also a need for onboarding as an introduction to your company. You could use drip campaigns for onboarding, for example. Here you activate people to use your application, or to complete their data, by ‘dripping’ a series of messages over time. This is also a technology that we are going to take steps in for the coming time.
4. Chatbots
Chatbots are becoming increasingly important. This point is partly related to AI. After all, we’re moving more and more towards conversational AI and conversational applications. This means you can operate an application by chatting. A chatbot can greatly increase conversion, especially for e-commerce, which is very conversion-focused.
5. Video content
Never before has as much video content been consumed as now. We have YouTube and TikTok. And Instagram and Facebook are lagging behind. Video is the type of content of these years. And it will only become more. We really need to get involved.
6. Gamification
Like the previously mentioned technologies, gamification is something that is already being used by pioneers. Many companies are behind in this regard and need to catch up. With gamification, we’re talking about adding fun and playful elements to a normal user experience. For example, in education systems, you can level up if you collect enough points while learning. Duolingo is a good example of an app that uses gamification.
7. Extended reality
Virtual reality and augmented reality are both forms of extended reality, the technology where the physical and digital world merge. Virtual reality is not necessarily interesting for companies on its own, but augmented reality possibly is. With augmented reality, you add something to normal reality with technology. For example, lenses in our phones, with which you can find each other while walking. Or when scanning each other with the phone camera, you can see someone’s age. Or someone’s Instagram.
8. Blockchain
Many people know the blockchain from cryptocurrencies, but that’s not necessarily what blockchain is. Blockchain is a way to share data with each other where you are one hundred percent sure that the data is reliable and is recognized by all parties. That means that nobody can mess with that data once it is in there. There are thousands of ways you can use this principle in normal scenarios. Many companies could benefit from this.
9. Cybersecurity
We all have to get to work more with this. As systems become more complex, it will become easier to hack into them. The better the computers, the better the burglars’ tools will be. Also, burglars will find victims more easily.
